A Day at the Aquarium

Last weekend, when I was in Tampa, my friend and I opted to check out the Tampa Aquarium. We were especially intrigued by the penguin experience, more on that later. It turned out to be a fun morning, walking around the aquarium, seeing all of the animals and creatures. I especially loved the tanks where you could touch the anemones, starfish and rays. Also, the huge 'school of fish' tank was pretty awesome, as were the jellyfish exhibits. I took a few photos below, which animal is your favorite?

Strolling the Greenmarket

If you're a foodie and you live in NYC, chances are, you've visited the Union Square Greenmarket at one point or another. Made popular when the neighborhood was up-and-coming with new restaurants like the famed Union Square Cafe, the Greenmarket is now a weekend staple and even makes a showing on certain weekdays too. When I used to work in the Flatiron district, I loved walking past all of the vendors on my lunch break.

Now, I only make it up to the market sometimes (especially with my CSA pick-ups in full swing) but I have to say that my recent weekend walk through, with a friend, was amazing. I loved seeing all of the fresh produce, and the best part is, the farmers and vendors have really unique produce that you can't always find in store. For example, golden carrots or shishito peppers, also known as my new obsession, or lesser-known plum varieties. I had my first elephant plum on this particular visit a few weekends ago, and picked up some garlic and kirby cucumbers to make refrigerator pickles with. Recipe for that coming soon. In the meantime, wanted to share a few photos I snapped on my stroll.

Happy Monday, readers! Life has been a bit hectic lately, with an impending apartment move happening tomorrow, and then I'm off on a trip to Europe on Wednesday. To say I've been a bit crazed would be an understatement. Still so much to get done before I'm on my way to Barcelona, but I have a few fun posts lined up for you until then. Once I'm gone, things will be pretty quiet around here but I'm excited to share photos from my travels once I return. But of course, you can keep up with me on Instagram and Twitter while I'm away. Today, I have some fun pictures to share with you!

A few weekends ago, I took a trip out to Hamilton, NJ, to check out the sculpture grounds. Within, there was a fun exhibit featuring giant balloon animals which turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the day. Bright colors, bubbly silhouettes, and gorgeous light streamed into the atrium where the pieces were held--it was quite a visual experience. Here are some highlights from the exhibit. Richmond Recap, Part 2

Part 2 of my Richmond weekend recap. One of my favorite parts of my visit to Richmond last weekend was a visit to the James River with Laura, Sutton and their pups. After getting coffee at the awesome Lamplighter Roasting Co., we took a drive to the downtown area, where there is a gorgeous bridge and walking path that goes over the James River. Richmond is cool, because the city sits right on the river, and the sights are quite breathtaking. We happened to arrive as a storm approached, so unfortunately, our walk was cut short, but the clouds looked pretty incredible. I captured a few of the scenes from our walk below--it was unbelievable how green everything was.

Richmond Recap, Part 1

So I enjoyed a fun trip to Richmond this past weekend, and it was a great reunion with my best friend and her fiance. I got to see their new apartment, meet their pup again (and the one they're dog-sitting), enjoy delicious food and explore the southern city. I wanted to share a recap with you in two parts: part one that includes a very memorable brunch at The Black Sheep, as well as some gorgeous Richmond architecture and scenes I observed on one of our several walks around the neighborhood they call The Fan. Hi all, welcome to the end of the week! It's been a busy one, and I'm trying to keep some new habits in place, like early workouts and more cooking. I got my 2nd CSA goodie bag this week, which perked up my Wednesday. The weather is perfect in NYC today, and I'm in a great mood. This week has been pretty dreary and I keep wondering when beautiful spring or even summer will be here to stay. Looks like we might get some sun this weekend which I'm looking forward to. I'm heading to a wedding for a good friend (super excited!) in Pennsylvania and will just be relaxing overall. Kind of like the surfers in Jack Toohey's shot below.
