i've always been fairly unfussy about my skincare routine, partly out of laziness and partly due to the fact that i like simplicity in my life. the fewer steps, the better, in my opinion. i think that, sometimes, using too many products can have the opposite effect on your skin, confusing it and causing issues. i wanted to share my personal skincare routine with you today--i always love to see what other people are using and i hope you'll enjoy this peek into my day-to-day routine as well.
kiehl's rare earth deep pore cleanser: this was a recent addition to my collection, but i swear it has done wonders on warding away annoying breakouts and keeping my skin soft and exfoliated. it's affordable, sold at various locations (i picked mine up at barney's co-op), and totally worth it, in my opinion. this was my first kiehl's purchase as well, so i might be hooked now. i love that the exfoliation is gentle, so you can use it everday, and something about the amazonian white clay in it really makes it feel like you're cleansing away unwanted germs and pollutants from your skin. huge fan!
clinique 7-day scrub cream rinse-off formula: this is a product that has been in my arsenal for some time. i have a feeling many women pick up skincare habits from their mothers, and my mom was always a clinique fan, so this is always a product that was always present in my childhood home. i prefer the kiehl's scrub, but, if i don't have it around, this clinique scrub is a good second option and i have a bottle stashed at my boyfriend's house to use when i'm there. like the kiehl's exfoliator, this one also employs a gentler scrub while also exfoliating effectively. my skin always feels soft and clean after using this.
josie maran organic argan oil: another newer addition to my skincare process, but i am a big fan. while i don't generally use this every day, i do like to to use it a few times a week, either at night or in the morning. it makes my skin SO soft, and it's pretty incredbile. i also love the fact that it's organic and a very natural product. i thought it might be counterintuitive to put oil on my face (and i think many people have this fear), but i've found that it doesn't make your face oily (just don't use too much!), it really just sinks into your skin and leaves it feeling incredibly soft and moisutrized. it really doesn't affect makeup application either. i currently have a mini bottle of this but once i've run through it, i will definitely pick up a full size.
clinique dramatically different moisturizer: this is my go-to moisturizer, and is a product i've been using since middle school. another inheritance from my mom's routine, i've always found that this no-frills moisturizer is a best seller for a reason. it does its job. my only wish is that it had some type of spf in it (but i use a tinted moisturizer with spf in it to make up for this, more on that later). however, if anyone has recommendations on great moisturizers with spf, i would love to hear about it! this product is affordable as well, and a bottle will last quite a while, so i'm sticking with it for now, and i have to say that it has served me well for the past 10+ years.
dr. bronner's organic magic soap in almond: my boyfriend is actually the one who turned me onto bar soap, and dr. bronner's. i used to use creamy body washes with loofahs, but have since realized that a simple bar is easier, and also carries less bacteria than a loofah. so, i'm thankful for the introduction, as i love the almond scent of this soap, and the fact that it is organic is a huge plus. the soap is made up of all natural products, including coconut oil, jojoba oil and palm oil (all organic), so i feel like i'm putting something good on my skin (it is our body's largest organ, after all!).
so, that's it. what do you think? i would love to hear your thoughts, and also, any recommendations on other products. i'm all ears!
